Ranks

The social hierarchy of the Himalia Monastery is rather flat, rank only coming into effect in the most serious of situations.

Due to this, respect is more earned based on reputation and experience and so those who have been at the monastery for the longest tend to incur the most sway by default.

This is generally shown within the ranks and titles used. The perms will be based on this and may be a little less egalitarian so as to better run the faction and prevent griefing.

Forebear

The ‘Forebear’ title is bestowed to those of Cressida before the construction of Himalia, those who planned and built the Monastery.

In practise it is essentially the same as the Elder.

Elder

The ‘Elder’ title is bestowed to those trusted members who have been with the monastery for a large amount of time and hold the most sway, assuming the most power in times of crisis.

Acolyte

‘Acolytes’ are the regular everyday members of the Monastery. Other than time spent there is little observable difference between them and the elders in regular day to day affairs.

Pilgrim

Recruits take the title ‘Pilgrim’ when they first wander in from the sands and before they have spent enough time in the monastery to be considered an Acolyte.
